Lovekin have been servicing gas boilers for more than 25 years with timed appointments, skilled engineers and a real commitment to quality and customer service.

We also service gas fires and we install and repair boilers and central heating systems. Many of our customers have been with us over 20 years and we know most of them on first-name terms.
Lovekin are Worcester Accredited Installers
We are Gas Safe Registered, No. 66587
We work with mains gas only (natural gas) not LPG
As gas engineers we have to re-sit our exams every 5 years and the emphasis on the courses is always on safety. Whichever gas appliance we service, boiler, fire or water heater, we go through a number of safety checks.
For a boiler service we check the position of the appliance, the route and condition of the flue and the operation of the flue. We check the casing seals and look for damage, from rusting, which might affect the integrity of the combustion casing. Damage to the casing or seals could allow poisonous carbon monoxide to enter the room.
Unless the boiler manufacturers specify differently, we check and clean the flueways through the heat exchanger, the main burner and injectors, the pilot burner assembly and any air intake filters, then re-assemble the boiler.
To establish that the correct amount of gas is being used we check the main burner pressure or the inlet working pressure and we may carry out a gas rate test at the meter.
Where it’s possible we run a combustion analysis test using an electronic combustion gas analyser. It is no longer legal to install a new boiler without a combustion gas analysis test as part of the commissioning process and the same test is a very important part of servicing high efficiency gas boilers.
The results of the flue gas analysis show the levels of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and the ratio between them. The ratio is a good benchmark for combustion safety. If the carbon dioxide figure is outside parameters set by the manufacturers we will make adjustments and re-test. Worcester Bosch Greenstar boilers have specified fan inlet pressures which indicate whether the main heat exchanger is sufficiently clean or needs to be stripped down further.
In most cases combustion analysis also gives us an efficiency figure, gross or net. This tells us how much of the heat from the gas consumed is useful in warming the house or water, and how much is lost in the flue gases.
Besides servicing, we install and repair gas boilers and central heating systems and will be very happy to talk through any work you need or any project you have in mind. We supply and fit replacement controls, radiators, thermostatic radiator valves and circulating pumps. For installation our first choice of manufacturer would be Worcester Bosch because of their spares availability, customer support and commitment to research and development. You can find more about how we work on our installation page, and our repair page tells you how we charge for repairs.
We have another web site recording information about central heating problems and fault-finding, lovekin.net. The site’s not very pretty yet but we’re building a library of articles about boiler faults and repair and problems with controls. We also have articles about radiator balancing, central heating system pressure, condensate drain problems and gross and net boiler efficiency, among others.
Very clean blue flame picture in an Ideal Concord CF boiler. Tinges of orange, red and mauve are fine but pale yellow flames would suggest danger and a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning!

We charge £94 for the first appliance and £68 for each additional appliance except hobs, which are £38
If you have a neighbour who wants a boiler service too we’ll give each of you a £10 neighbour discount if you have them done together. Just let us know when you ring to make the bookings.
Where repair work or parts are needed we charge extra but we’ll discuss it with you first. We take payment when we finish the work; many of our customers pay by bank transfer but cash or cheque are fine too. Sorry, we don’t take cards.

Servicing an old back boiler requires concentration. There’s a lot to strip down, clean, check and re-assemble. These appliances draw their air from the room at low level and pull in a lot of dust and fibre which can block the intakes and reduce the air needed for safe combustion. They also need combustion air vents in the room which must not be fly-screened and must not be closeable.
